It was in 2005 in a hotel lobby in Cologne, when I met Jeff Cascaro for the first time. As he stood in front of me in his trench coat, he seemed to radiate a rather pleasant kind of casual sophistication. Cigarette in the corner of his mouth, coffee in front of him, he started talking about his music, frankly and emphatically. Actually I do owe this contact to an old colleague, who, utterly enchanted, came to me from one his concerts: “You HAVE to listen to this … !” As one might expect, there were other, more critical voices as well, claiming Jeff Cascaro to be a mere local hero from North-Rhine Westphalia.

Well, I have made up my mind! And I would argue any time, that Jeff Cascaro has the most beautiful timbre of all German singers. People carrying iPods might not be interested in such categories or statements. And how really is one supposed to truly hear and notice it? Perhaps one ought to pick up a vinyl record, this seemingly nostalgic medium, which for many good reasons remains to be the first choice of music lovers. A disc, turning visibly, danced on by a stylus. Marvellous!

Since 2006 Jeff Cascaro has realised three soul jazz productions on my label, which I have now compiled on to a 180gr double vinyl. It represents all the colours and shades of his musical sensibilities. Through all his productions Jeff Cascaro has stayed true to his brilliant musical companions Ulf Kleiner, Christian von Kaphengst, Bruno Müller, Flo Dauner and Peter Lübke. This double vinyl has already become a collector´s item.
